About the quality of water management in Portugal:

98.9 % – percent of monitored and good quality tap-water in 2017 (50% in 1993 and above 95% since 2005). (1)

95.7% – percent of households with access to drinking water supply service in 2017 (81% in 1993). (2)

83.4% – percent of households with access to wastewater service (collection and treatment) in 2017 (28% in 1993). (2)

93% – percentage of inland bathing waters in good quality status in 2017 (17% in 1993 and above 85% since 2001). (3)

98% – costal bathing waters and transitional waters in good quality in 2017 (58% in 1993 and above 90% since 2000). (3)

352 – number of “Blue Flag” beaches in Portugal in 2019 (89 in 1993). (4)

 

About the Portuguese Water Cluster:

145 – members of the Portuguese Water Partnership – public and private enterprises, research centres, technical and professional associations, and government agencies (2018). (5)

1 200 million euro – water sector revenues, generated in 2018, by the 80 members that participated in the annual survey undertaken by the PWP.(5)

55% – share of international business in the overall activities of the 80 members that participated in the annual survey undertaken by the PWP (2018). (5)
