LIS-Water signs a contract with the Inter-American Development Bank

LIS-Water signed a contract with the Inter-American Development Bank for a vast program to improve public policies and the regulation of water and sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean (RegWAS LAC).

The approach is based on four pillars: i) to assess the current situation of public policy and regulation in the LAC region, based on a comprehensive and systematic methodology, carry out benchmarking analyzes and define a roadmap for improvement; ii) promote reflection and strategic advice; iii) implement an advanced training and capacity building program; iv) develop and disseminate a set of instruments such as guidelines, key messages, case studies, best practices and lessons learned.

In addition to the IDB and LIS-Water, the Association of Water and Sanitation Regulators of the Americas (ADERASA), the International Water Association (IWA) and the United Nations global partnership Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) participate in this program.

The program started this May, lasts two and a half years, and covers 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is financed by the IDB with strong support from the Government of Portugal.
