PT Global Water Awards 2023 winners announced

 

The PT Global Water Awards 2023 awards ceremony was a unique moment where everyone present learned, firsthand, which entities won. The ceremony took place on November 24th, 2023, in Lisbon, as part of the 18th Expo Water Conference, organized by the magazine Água&Ambiente.

The ceremony began with the opening speech by João Belo, General Director of the About Media Group, who mentioned the importance of companies in their internationalization, and the speech by Luís Rebelo de Sousa, AICEP Administrator, who mentioned the importance of multilaterals for the water sector in Portugal.

The awards followed, in which six entities were awarded in six different categories, and three honorable mentions were awarded.

The closing ceremony was carried out by the President of the Portuguese Water Partnership, who congratulated the winners and the entire water sector for the excellent work carried out at an international level.

  • Studies and Projects Category 
  • Winner: Nemus – Gestão e Requalificação Ambiental, Lda.
  • Project: Delimitation and characterization of groundwater bodies at risk in Bulgaria.
  • Services Category
  • Winner: TAWZEA AQUAPOR.
  • Project: Operation and maintenance of the filling system of water transport systems in Sharma, Oxagon and Al’Bada (NEOM, KSA), including customer portfolio management and billing.
  • Supplies Category
  • Winner: TECNILAB AV PORTUGAL – Sociedade de Planeamento Técnico e Científico, S.A.
  • Project: CLIMEWORKS MAMMOTH – Extraction of CO2 from the air.
  • Contracts Category
  • Winner: Hidro-Ibérica – Estudo e Montagem de Regas, Lda.
  • Project: Supply of Pivots powered from compression pipes associated with lifting stations, installed next to water lines in Angola.
  • R+D+I Category
  • Winner: R5 Marine Solutions.
  • Project: AX-COAST aims to internationalize and improve the modeling capabilities of COAST, an innovative cost-benefit assessment tool for coastal interventions.
  • Start-Up Category
  • Winner: LIS-Water – Lisbon International Centre for Water.
  • Project: RegWAS LAC – Program to improve public policies and regulation of water and sanitation services in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Jury Members also decided to award 3 Honorable Mentions:

  • Studies and Projects Category
  • Honorable Mention: AGS – Administração e Gestão de Sistemas de Salubridade, S.A.
  • Project: Application of Artificial Intelligence Models to define investment plans for the rehabilitation of water supply systems for 80 years.
  • Supplies Category
  • Honorable Mention: ECODEPUR – Tecnologias de Proteção Ambiental.
  • Project: WWTP Bwiza Riverside Homes & Technical School – Kigali Rwanda.
  • R+D+I Category
  • Honorable Mention: CTGA – Centro Tecnológico de Gestão Ambiental.
  • Project: SYNAPPS –  Platform for estimation, controlling, and optimizing wastewater treatment plants.
